Sarvangasana
(The Pan‑Body Pose)

Contra-Indications

Disorders of the neck, like spondylosis or severe throat infection/swelling.

Starting Pose Lie on the back keep the legs together and hands by the sides of the body.
Technique

Raise both the legs slowly up to 90 0. Raise them further upwards and slightly back­ward, lifting the trunk up. Make the body straight from the shoulders to the toes, the elbows on the floor and palms supporting the upper back like brackets. The whole body weight will be on the neck and the shoulders. Maintain the pose closing the eyes, applying the Conscious Differential Relaxation technique and observing Pranadharana.

Releasing the Pose

Open the eyes. Release the support of the palms and simultaneously lower the legs backwards towards the head to avoid tumbling of the legs. Then slowly lower the back, the trunk, the legs and gradually bring the legs to the floor from the 90 o position and relax.

Benefits Maintains the health of the thyroid and para‑thyroid glands and consequently of the whole body. Vitalises sex glands. Effectively controls premature aging, seminal weakness, dyspepsia and constipation. Preventive and curative for varicose veins, hernia and displacement of abdominal organs.
