Yoga Vidya Niketan

Recipient of Padma Shri Award for 2004 Shri Nimbalkar, born on 27 th July 1926 at Ahemednagar, founded the Yoga Vidya Niketan in 1974 in Mumbai for spreading the message, “Gharoghari Yoga”, i.e., to reach Yoga to every doorstep. Government of Maharashtra has recognized Yoga Vidya Niketan (YVN) as a Special Institute for Yoga Education & Research.

Shri Sadashiv P. Nimbalkar, retired Vice Principal of a Junior College, Mumbai, when came in contact with Swami Kuvalayanandaji, the Founder-Director of world renowned Yoga Institute Kaivalyadhama, at Lonavala, he was a pioneer of research in Yogic Science and adopted scientific approach towards Yoga. This changed the focus of Shri Nimbalkar from physical-oriented activities to the more sensitive field of Yoga. Since then, Shri Nimbalkar got himself deeply involved in pursuing his cherished dream of taking the Yogic Science to the door-step of every household and to the commoners for their total health and personality development.

  • Maharashtra Vangmaya Department Award (For his book 'Aarogyasathi Yoga') 1978

His paper, presented at 2nd National Conference on 'Yoga Therapy, Hypertension, Diabetes, and Cardiovascular Diseases' organized by Government of India, at New Delhi in 1994 was awarded “Shri Mangal Sain Rishi Award”.
