“My revered Guru Swami Kuvalayananda who kindled in me a love for Yoga Shastra” – Sadashiv Nimbalkar!
The Founder and Director of the Yoga Vidya Niketan Shri Sadashiv P. Nimbalkar, son of a Primary School Teacher started his career also as a School Teacher and retired as Vice Principal of the Marwari High School and Junior College after rendering a long dedicated service for 32 years in 1984. During these 32 years, Shri Nimbalkar managed School Gymnasium, conducted various sports meets and various programmes on Discipline Management, First Aid, educational exhibitions, national propagation, etc. in the areas related to education in school. He also conducted Marathi classes for the benefit of non-Marathi students and Hindi classes for the benefit of non-Hindi students.
A successful dramatist, gymnast and a sports person, Shri Nimbalkar was also deeply involved with Homeopathy and Yoga. His association with a pioneer of Yogic Science, Swami Kuvalayanandaji, changed his entire life style. He then cherished the dream of taking Yogic Science to every household and commoners for their good health and for the development of their personality. He realized that the traditional method of doing yoga was difficult. He, therefore, started specializing in Yoga Education, Homeopathy and simplified methods of Yogic Practices.
He was initiated to Yoga and Yogic Science at Kaivalyadhama, Mumbai in 1957 by Swami Kuvalayanandaji, a pioneer of research in Yogic Science, who was the first scholar in India to give a scientific approach to Yoga. Association with Guru Kuvalayanandaji was a great fortune for Shri Nimbalkar as this gave him an opportunity to enlighten and enrich himself with a new vision, a scientific approach to Yogic Science. Hatha Yoga, which was deemed to be secretive, young Nimbalkar, took a challenge to take this esteemed science to masses and to spread Yoga to commoners for their welfare and good health.

Yoga Therapy is the ancient science of Yoga that focuses on health and wellness at all levels of the person, physical, psychological and spiritual. Yoga Therapy focuses on Pancha Koshas (Five Sheaths) and Sapta Chakra (Seven Energy Centers). Various Yogic practices are recommended to have Healthy sheaths & energy centers. The yoga therapist serves as a guide or mentor in the journey of healing and self-discovery. Rather than offering a diagnosis and treatment, the yoga therapist creates a safe learning environment where the student can learn his/her own innate healing resources. We begin with an understanding of the five koshas as a model for our work.
Yogic healing focused on Ahar (Diet), Vihar (Activities) & Nidra (Relaxation / Recreation). Digital lifestyle has ruined our physical activities, relaxation & sleep. We need to learn to slow down, to live every moment, to enjoy singing and dancing. In short, learn “The Art of Happy Living”. Human beings are integral part of Nature. Natural Living helps us to live a life close to the nature in a healthy, natural and empowered way. Things around us have impact on body, mind and soul. By using natural personal care items, medicines, household cleaning products, and organic foods, we can improve our health and our family’s health significantly over a long period of time. Health is Happiness. Attain it, by following the rules of NATURE – Aahar (diet), Vihar (Activities) & Nidra (Relaxation).
Nature Cure / Naturopathy
AYUSH stands for Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy, the Indian Alternative Medical Systems are being promoted by Health & Welfare Dept. of Govt. of India. Nature Cure / Naturopathy is very old non-drug therapy, where basic five elements – Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth are used for treatment and also Yoga Practices for preventing ailments. Both Ayurveda and Siddha Medical Systems work on these five basic elements (Panch Tatvas) and Yoga. Ayurveda treats to balance Tridoshas : Ether & Air create Vata Dosha, Fire & Water create Pitta Dosha and Water & Earth create Kapha Dosha. Tridoshas are balanced when Panch Tatvas (Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth) are balanced. Naturopathy uses Panch Tatvas basic five elements to remove the accumulated toxins from the body.
